Who are we?

Hi, I’m Nerice — and this is Peter.

Peter is my pittie sidekick, foster brother to 11 dogs, and one of the biggest reasons Peter and Pals exists today.

My experience with dogs began long before Peter and Pals. Over the years, I’ve volunteered with animal rescues, fostered dogs, including behavioral and more challenging cases, and spent time raising and working with service-dog puppies. Each experience taught me something different, but one lesson has stayed consistent: dogs are always communicating with us.

Learning to recognize and interpret a dog’s body language has become one of the most important parts of how I work. A stiff body, a subtle change in posture, a shift in energy, or a moment of hesitation can tell us a lot about how a dog is feeling. Paying attention to those details allows me to meet dogs where they are, build trust at their pace, and create experiences where they feel safe and understood.

My approach is patient, gentle, and intentional. I believe clear communication is just as important with people as it is with dogs. I want you to feel confident knowing that your dog is being handled thoughtfully, while also knowing exactly what to expect from me.

While my professional background includes years in tech and operations, I’ve brought that same level of organization and professionalism into Peter and Pals. From the beginning, I want communication to be clear and expectations to be aligned. After our first few interactions, I send a summary email so we can make sure we’re on the same page about your dog’s needs and care. Every confirmed service comes with a calendar invitation so there’s never any guessing about when I’ll arrive, and if anything changes, I’ll communicate with you directly.

To me, professional pet care means more than showing up and taking your dog for a walk. It means being dependable, observant, communicative, and treating every dog as an individual.

Peter and Pals was created from my lifelong love of animals and my desire to provide pet parents with care they can genuinely feel good about. Whether your dog needs a structured walk, some extra enrichment, or care while you’re away, my goal is always the same: to provide thoughtful, intentional care while building a relationship based on trust.

Outside of work, Peter and I love hiking, getting creative with arts and crafts, and exploring local wineries. We’ve called the El Sobrante/Richmond community home for over seven years, and we’re always excited to meet more of our neighbors—two- and four-legged alike.
